Academic Prerequisites for Pakistan Army 155 PMA Course:
FA/FSc/Equivalent:
- Minimum 55% marks in FA/FSc or equivalent.
- Candidates with 60% or more in BA/BSc/BA (Hons)/BSc (Hons)/BBA/BPA and at least 50% in FA/FSC are eligible for the PMA Long Course.
Serving Army Soldiers:
- Minimum 50% marks in FA/FSC or equivalent.
Verification of Mark Sheet/Certificate:
- Candidates without original certificates and holding duplicate or revised mark sheets/certificates for Matric, Intermediate, BA, or BSc must get a verification certificate signed by the secretary/controller of exams from the respective board or university.
‘A’ Level Candidates:
- Those applying within Pakistan with an aggregate of 55% marks do not need an equivalence certificate from IBCC.
- Candidates who completed ‘A’ levels abroad or have less than three Cs in Pakistan must submit an equivalence certificate from the Inter Board of Chairman Committee (IBCC).
Education and Age Requirements:
Intermediate or equivalent:
Age: 17-22 years
Age Relaxation: Three months for both upper and lower limits.
Graduates (2year program) and serving Pakistan Navy or Pakistan Air Force personnel:
Age: 17-23 years
Age Relaxation: Three months for both upper and lower limits.
Graduates with a 4year program (BS/BAHons/BBA/BPA):
Age: 17-24 years
No age relaxation
Serving Army Soldiers:
Age: 17-25 years
No age relaxation
Ineligibility Conditions:
- Rejection twice by the Inter Service Selection Board (ISSB) disqualifies candidates.
- Failing three times in Initial Tests (Intelligence/Academic) leads to ineligibility for future PMA Long Courses.
- Appearing for tests within four months (120 days) of the last ISSB appearance without a waiver from the competent authority disqualifies candidates.
- Dismissal, removal, or debarment from Government Service, including the Armed Forces, results in ineligibility.
- Conviction in a Court of Law for any serious offense, as determined by military authority, leads to disqualification.
- Permanent unfitness declared by the Appeal Medical Board (PUF by AMB) or by any Armed Forces Hospital, without clearance from the Appeal Medical Board, results in ineligibility. However,
- Pakistan Air Force candidates unfit for flying but fit for ground branches can undergo a routine medical examination if they seek to join other branches.
- Medical unfitness due to Hepatitis B or C cannot be appealed and results in disqualification.
- Withdrawal from any bonded Armed Forces college or institution for disciplinary reasons disqualifies candidates.
- Withdrawal, discharge, resignation, or purchase of commission from any Armed Forces Officers Academy or Training Institution leads to disqualification.
- Engaging in tampering with academic certificates, forgery, or concealment results in permanent ineligibility for all types of commissions in the Armed Forces.
- Candidates testing positive for drugs in CMHs, Military Hospitals, or AFIP will be permanently disqualified from joining PMA or any training institutions.
Registration and Preliminary Selection Process
Candidates can either register online or visit Army Selection and Recruitment Centres (AS&RCs). The process is as follows:
Online Registration:
Register at (http://www.joinpakarmy.gov.pk). The system will send the test date and time via email, so candidates must have a functional email account. They must attend the test on the exact date and time indicated on the computerized roll number slip. No changes to the scheduled date will be permitted. Candidates should have basic computer skills, as both registration and tests will be conducted online.
Written/Intelligence Tests:
The tests will feature multiple-choice questions on English, Math, Pakistan Studies, Islamiat, and General Knowledge. Candidates who pass these tests will advance to physical and medical tests, followed by interviews at AS&RCs.
Important Notes:
TCC Candidates applying for the PMA Long Course will be considered repeaters.
Fresh Candidates are those applying for the first time, even if they have previously appeared in ISSB for the Navy or Air Force.
Repeater Candidates must report to their AS&RCs between 28 October 2024 and 7 November 2024 for the preliminary test.
Selection for the Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB) will follow a module-based system from the Personnel Administration Directorate. The initial test includes:
- Written/Intelligence tests and English/Urdu essay writing
- Medical examination
- Physical tests
- Interview conducted by the preliminary selection board, led by the Selection and Recruitment Officer (S&RO)
Physical Tests Criteria:
- 6 Km Run: Complete within 8 minutes
- Push-Ups: 15 in 2 minutes
- Crunches: 20 in 2 minutes
- Pull-Ups: 3 in 2 minutes
- Ditch Crossing: 7.4’’ x 7.4’’ and 4’ deep
Candidates must pass all events. Failure to pass any event will disqualify them from the physical test (PT) and result in not receiving an ISSB form.
Interview Process
Applicants who successfully complete the written, medical, and physical exams will proceed to an interview with Safety and Regulations Officers and a mental health professional. Prior to the interview, every applicant is required to compose a 10-line essay on a subject provided in the examination room, in both English and Urdu. In the interview, S&ROs will evaluate every candidate and assign a rating up to 20. Individuals who obtain a score below 12 will not be eligible to obtain the ISSB form.
Interview Guidelines
- Demonstrate confidence and clarity in English and Urdu.
- Show awareness of current affairs.
- Exhibit knowledge of Geography and Pakistan Studies.
- Present a strong overall appearance.
- Highlight participation in extracurricular activities such as sports and hobbies.
- Display any additional qualities deemed relevant by the interview panel.
Each interview will be recorded via CCTV, and AS&RCs will share the footage weekly with the Personnel Administration Directorate.

Required Documents for Submission
- Submit the original certificate or detailed marks sheet of Matric/FA/FSc/Equivalent.
- Provide a computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) if 18 years or older, or Form “B” along with a parent’s CNIC if under 18.
- Include one set of attested photocopies of all the above-mentioned documents.
- Attach 3 passport-sized colored photographs, attested on both sides by a Class-1 Gazetted Officer or Principal.
- Repeater candidates must provide the original and one photocopy of the “NOT RECOMMENDED” letter from ISSB.
Note: Old CNICs will not be accepted.
