General Description of Duties
Leon County; This part-time, non-sworn position will help run the Sheriff’s Office social media platforms and mobile app to inform the community about safety issues and outreach programs. You’ll create engaging videos and photos while working with the Community and Media Relations team to build positive connections with residents. Success in this role requires good time management, computer skills, communication, customer service, and problem-solving abilities. All content must follow LCSO branding guidelines.
Essential Duties
- Run daily social media by writing and scheduling posts for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and Nextdoor
- Make photos, videos, and graphics for our channels
- Work with Sheriff’s Office team members to create videos and manage Facebook Live events
- Share updates from Sheriff’s Office ceremonies and community events as they happen
- Monitor social platforms daily, answer comments promptly, and build stronger community relationships
- Create and execute effective social media campaigns
- Track important news stories affecting local residents and law enforcement
- Follow social media trends to develop attention-grabbing, shareable content
- Create weekly analytics reports showing growth and engagement metrics
- Answer emails promptly from community members and staff about social media
- Handle additional digital content projects as needed
Eligibility Criteria
- High school diploma or GED required at minimum
- Currently studying for or holding a degree in related field, or similar mix of education and experience
- Must be available to work some nights, weekends, and during special events
- Can create engaging graphics and videos tailored for social media audiences
- Knows the fundamentals of effective social media writing and design
- Skilled with tools for managing and scheduling across multiple social platforms
- Experienced with design software including Adobe Creative Suite or Canva
- Has practical knowledge of artistic methods, photo taking, and video creation
- Can edit videos proficiently using Adobe Premiere or similar editing programs
Necessary Special Requirements
- Must be able to lift, push, carry or pull at least 25 pounds independently
